(YOUR CHEAT SHEET FOR GREAT FAMILY PORTRAITS!)
YES, MOST FAMILIES WORRY OVER THE LITTLE THINGS...
If you are planning an upcoming family session, you may be wondering how you can make it perfect. After all, you want to get your money's worth and have memories to cherish for years to come. But what if the kids don't smile? What if it rains? What if everyone isn't as excited about the session as you are?
We hear you. Check out our guide below to help you make the most of your session.
1) PLAN AHEAD, BUT KEEP IN MIND...
Sometimes things don't always go as planned, & that's OK! If you have kids, don't worry if they don't cooperate the way you want them to. If you find an experienced photographer, they should be able to still give you great images, even if plans change on the go.
2.) RELAX AND HAVE FUN
When planning your session, think about the things your family enjoys doing together. Do you love spending time on the beach? Playing board games? Going on hikes? Sitting around the family fireplace on a cold winter's day? If you plan your session around themes that reflect your family's aura, it can make for a unique and fun experience for all.
3.) SET EXPECTATIONS...
Set your expectations ahead of time. Let your family know how important this session is to you & why you will cherish these memories. If they know how much it means to you, they will most likely be more willing to cooperate for the session.
4.) DON'T FORCE IT
You already told your family how important this session is to you, but don't force things upon them that make them uncomfortable. Does little Sara hate wearing that scratchy tutu you picked for her? Would dad rather not wear that patterned tie? Pick clothing that looks great together, but don't make the family miserable over it. I promise you will thank me in the end. :)
5.) MAKE SURE YOU HIRE THE RIGHT PHOTOGRAPHER
You want nothing more than that perfect family photo that you can hang above your couch in the living room. If you hire a photographer with experience, personality that you can relate with, & who can embrace the unexpected, they should be able to provide you with a great experience overall.
